TESS Classic - General Specification
Designed and manufactured in the UK, TESS demountable cases were developed in conjunction with leading curators, architects and designers with temporary and travelling exhibitions in mind. However their features and quality are such that they are now being specified wherever showcases may require to be moved or relocated.
What is so different about TESS cases is their elegantly engineered design and the ease with which their sophisticated pre-assembled elements go together. No special skills or tools are required and you really can assemble and dismantle the world's leading demountable showcase systems in minutes

Glass specification
For reasons of security, conservation and safety, only laminated glass is used. For larger cases, 10.8mm glass is standard. For additional security 9.5mm or 11.5mm 'anti-bandit' glass can be specified. Optiwhite glass is used for all our cases. This, unlike standard glass which has a green tinge, ensures that delicately coloured items such as illuminated manuscripts, textiles and art are seen in their true colours.
Door Access and Locks
The systems offer a choice of secure, easy to operate door systems.
oPrecision engineered hardened steel pull and slide door mechanism, gas spring assisted. oAdvanced technology concealed hinged door giving 100% opening access. oPrism cases have a hinged top, gas spring assisted, with a locking stay.
Mono cases have a framed door with concealed hinges at each end. These door mechanisms are entirely pre-assembled into the system frameworks.
The pull and slide doors of the Spectrum cases have a choice of opening widths. Either 60 % opening to left and right or for optimum access a full 100% opening.
For Vista cases only 60% opening to left and right is available although it is possible to fully remove the door if greater access is required.
The hinged door provides 100% access to both Spectrum, Vista and Mono cases. Spectrum and Vista cases have a double locking system.
A concealed mechanical lock to firmly secure and seal the door, access to which is protected by one or more high security Abloy CL 291 barrel locks. Prism cases are fitted with one or more Abloy security locks.
Mono cases are secured by Abloy cam locks.
Lighting Options
The full range of lighting options for the Spectrum cases includes 'Fully positionable low voltage downlighters. 'Fibre optics. 'LED. 'Fluorescents.
These are available with dimming controls as an option. All light fittings other than fibre optic heads are mounted external to the secure display section to avoid heat build up and provide service access.
Vista and Mono cases are normally lit externally but the same options as for the Spectrum are available in a detachable light hood.
Finishes
The case finish can be fully customised. The system frames and plinth can be specified to any BS or RAL paint colour and finish. Plinths can also be specified in a range of wood, laminate or metal finishes.
Internal dress panels are specified from a conservation approved fabric range such as Baumann.
Conservation
All materials and finishes within the display chamber are to recognised conservation standards. The laminated glass filters out over 97% of ultra-violet light between 320 & 380 nanometres. Additional environmental and conservation features which can be incorporated include silica gel/Artsorb trays for control of relative humidity and charcoal cloth for certain pollutants. Dress panels are available in 'Panelsafe' a totally inert panel material which can be screwed and fixed into.
Shelving
Spectrum and Vista cases can have shelves of toughened glass fitted to fully adjustable suspension rods. One set of four suspension rods is required per case and each shelf comes with four locking connectors. The fully adjustable shelf system allows the use of part width/depth shelves.
Mono cases can have either peg supports at 100 mm intervals in each corner, or rod suspension shelves.
All three case types can have cantilever bracket shelves providing there is a panel back.
Storage and Transportation
Various options are available. These include flat palette and rack systems and are made to requirements.

If in any doubt, consult your Health and Safety Officer and also our specialist advisers. |
